With more than 20 years of experience, gastroenterologist Shams Tabrez, MD, has built up a deep and diverse skill set. At Gastrointestinal Consultants in The Villages, Tavares, and Orlando, Florida, Dr. Tabrez treats a broad range of gastrointestinal, liver, and biliary tract problems.
Tabrez earned his medical degree from Rawalpindi Medical University in Punjab, Pakistan. He completed his internal medicine residency through New York University’s Veterans Affairs Medical Center program in New York City.
Dr. Tabrez went on to complete his gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. During his fellowship, he completed clinical rotations in Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven; Bridgeport Hospital, in Bridgeport, Connecticut; and West Haven VA Medical Center, in West Haven.
He spent three months exclusively in hepatology consultation and transplantation, skills that serve him well today as he sees many patients with liver disease.
